Project guide

Preparing a useful signage brief

Start with the outcome you need, then add the information that helps turn it into a specification.

1. Describe the project

Is this a new site, a refurbishment, a rebrand or a rollout? Explain what is changing and what the finished signage needs to achieve.

2. Share the locations

Include site addresses and the number of locations. A few wide photographs are often more useful at the outset than a tightly cropped picture of the sign alone.

3. Supply the brand information

Provide the logo in a vector format if available, brand guidelines, required colours and any standard sign designs. Identify who will approve the artwork.

4. Describe the site conditions

Share approximate dimensions, mounting surfaces, viewing distances and known access restrictions. Note whether the site will continue operating during installation.

5. Set out the programme

Include target dates, key opening or launch milestones and any phasing. Flag dependencies such as landlord approval, building work or final brand sign-off.

6. Bring the supporting files

Prepare site photographs, drawings and sign schedules for the first conversation. You can prepare a brief using the enquiry page and attach those files in your email app.
